Softball Game Preview: Cole Cougars vs. Dilley Wolves

Cole is 0-4 against Dilley since February of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Cole Cougars will challenge the Dilley Wolves at 7:00 p.m. Cole has given up an average of 10.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Cole lost 15-4 to Poteet on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cougars have suffered against the Aggies since February 17, 2022.

Zoe Foy was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted over her last 12 matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Heidi Ingram, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Dilley came up short against Cotulla on Monday, falling 13-7. The Wolves have struggled against the Cowboys recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meetings.

Dakota San Miguel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Kassidy Romeo was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 10-8. As for Cole, their loss dropped their record down to 3-10-1.

Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cole hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .439. However, it's not like Dilley struggles in that department as they've averaged .466. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Cole might still be hurting after the 16-0 defeat they got from Dilley in their previous matchup back in February of 2022. Can Cole avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
