Basketball Game Preview: Lakeland Dreadnaughts vs. Berkeley Prep Buccaneers

Two dominant guards in Tyson McElhaney and Gabe Grimsley are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Lakeland Dreadnaughts will take on the Berkeley Prep Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lakeland has given up an average of 52.1 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lakeland is headed into Friday's contest hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight defeats. They lost to Bartow on the road by a 63-49 margin on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Dreadnaughts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 13th).

Meanwhile, Berkeley Prep had to suffer through a 65-32 loss at the hands of Gibbs.

Lakeland's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Berkeley Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Lakeland might still be hurting after the 57-36 loss they got from Berkeley Prep in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can the Dreadnaughts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
