Softball Game Preview: Blaine Borderites vs. Mt. Baker Mountaineers

The Blaine Borderites will take on the Mt. Baker Mountaineers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Blaine has given up an average of 9.9 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Blaine fell victim to Lynden and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Lions, falling 15-0. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Borderites' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Mt. Baker got the win against Squalicum on Thursday by a conclusive 20-1. The Mountaineers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Blaine has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Mt. Baker, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.

Blaine couldn't quite get it done against Mt. Baker in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-4. Can the Borderites avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
