Softball Game Preview: Georgetown Bulldogs vs. Green Sea Floyds Trojans

The Georgetown Bulldogs are taking a road trip to face off against the Green Sea Floyds Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Georgetown will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Timberland on Saturday. Georgetown put the hurt on Timberland with a sharp 10-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won three in a row.

Anastyn Streett and Rylee Holcombe did most of the damage at the plate: Streett scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in both of her plate appearances, while Holcombe scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in both of her plate appearances. Harper Moore was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

Georgetown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .640. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Green Sea Floyds never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Georgetown on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 15-2 margin over the Bulldogs. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Trojans' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Maci Collins was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Two bases.

In other batting news, Claire Stroud was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Blair Elliott, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Green Sea Floyds now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Georgetown, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Georgetown suffered a grim 15-2 defeat to Green Sea Floyds in their previous matchup on Saturday. Can Georgetown avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
