Recap: Bonanza Bengals vs. Valley Vikings
The Bonanza Bengals were the 53-41 winner over the Valley Vikings when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Bonanza was beaten by Valley 57-14 on Monday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Bonanza has scored all season.
Anaya Williams continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Valley, scoring 24 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. The matchup was Williams' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sharoni Black, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten steals.
Bonanza are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.3 points per game. As for Valley, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bonanza won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Eldorado at 6:30 p.m. on January 9th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Eldorado is ranked 85th, while Bonanza is ranked 101st). As for Valley, they will be playing at home against Somerset Academy Losee at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Somerset Academy Losee focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Thursday.
