Basketball Recap: Sleepy Eye Gets the Win

Sleepy Eye hadn't done well against Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Sleepy Eye Indians snuck past the Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Thunderbirds with a 57-51 win. For the Indians, this counts as revenge for the 65-62 victory the Thunderbirds walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Sleepy Eye and bumps their season record up to 6-5. As for Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sleepy Eye will face off against Springfield at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Sibley East at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
