The Mount Abram Roadrunners will square off against the Boothbay Seahawks at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Mount Abram's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Boothbay has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.
On Monday, Mount Abram earned a 10-7 win over Hall-Dale. The Roadrunners haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Kaiden Longley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Longley was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with six stolen bases and two runs. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.4 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Killian Pillsbury, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Ash Rollins was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Mount Abram kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.
Madison hit Boothbay with a four-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Seahawks lost 8-1 to the Bulldogs.
Boothbay saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Markowitz, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.
Boothbay's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Mount Abram, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
Boothbay's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mount Abram has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .452. It's a different story for Boothbay, though, as they've only averaged .330. Will they be able to contain Mount Abram's hitters?
Mount Abram was able to grind out a solid victory over Boothbay in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 6-1. Do the Roadrunners have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Seahawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
