Baseball Game Preview: Morton Potters vs. Washington Panthers

The Morton Potters are taking a road trip to challenge the Washington Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Morton will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Morton's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Saturday's struggle, when Pleasant Plains hitters got past them. The Potters fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 10-9 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Washington fell victim to Glenwood and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Titans. The Panthers have struggled against the Titans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Washington got a good showing from Cannon Foster, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the first time Foster hasn't allowed a single earned run since back in April.

On the hitting side, Washington saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Lawrence, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Washington's loss dropped their record down to 22-9. As for Morton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 20-12 record this season.

Morton couldn't quite finish off Washington when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 7-5. Can the Potters avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
