It was a proper cat-fight when Betsy Layne duked it out with Pikeville on Thursday. The Bobcats took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The Bobcats' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-23, 16-25, 25-20.

Lindy Gearheart had another great game (as she tends to do), getting ten digs and four aces for Pikeville. Gearheart is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 15 or more in each of the last 37 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Kyla Lee, who had 15 digs and eight kills.

Betsy Layne's defeat dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Pikeville, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
