Softball Recap: Illiana Christian Wins Going Away Against River Forest

While Illiana Christian put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for River Forest. The Vikings put the hurt on the Ingots with a sharp 17-0 victory. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 13 runs or more this season.

Emmy Jansma and Olivia Daliege made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Jansma pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Daliege pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Jansma went 1-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Daliege went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs. That stolen base marked the first that Jansma has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Mya VanderWoude was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lauren Kreykes, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Illiana Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River Forest only posted an OBP of .235.

The win made it two in a row for Illiana Christian and bumps their season record up to 5-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for River Forest, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Illiana Christian wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 6-1 defeat against Beecher on the 23rd. River Forest has also already played their next contest (against Marquette Catholic), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
