Softball Recap: Blacksburg Wildcats vs. Landrum Cardinals
There's no place like home for Blacksburg, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Landrum Cardinals on Thursday. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 win the Cardinals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.
Lucy Thayer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Blacksburg let Kayla Butler and Liz Rice run wild. Butler scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Rice went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Ema Gaut, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
