Baseball Recap: Mary Star of the Sea Wins Going Away Against St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy

Mary Star of the Sea won the last time they faced St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Stars blew past the Warriors 13-5. The result was nothing new for the Stars, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Mathias Reynolds made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits. He is becoming a predictor of Mary Star of the Sea's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 2-1 (and 10-11 when he doesn't). Reynolds was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Ricardo Carreon was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Dileva, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.

The victory got Mary Star of the Sea back to even at 12-12. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-17 record this season.

As of now, neither Mary Star of the Sea nor St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy have any future games scheduled.
