Football Recap: Oasis Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Oasis's offense. They were dealt a 41-0 defeat at the hands of the IMG Academy Junior National Ascenders on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Sharks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 443rd, while the Ascenders are ranked 221st).

A big part of IMG Academy Junior National's victory came down to the chemistry between Nolan Downes and his top target Deno Dalacas. Downes threw for 182 yards and four TDs while Dalacas picked up 124 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Downes has become a key player for IMG Academy Junior National: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Savyan Alteon Senat handled things on the ground, rushing for 80 yards.

Oasis is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5. As for IMG Academy Junior National, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oasis will venture away from home to challenge Bishop Verot at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Sharks will be up against the Vikings' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.8 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for IMG Academy Junior National, they will head out to take on Riverview Sarasota at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rams will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Ascenders surely won't give up without a fight.
