Basketball Recap: Seton Catholic Central Takes a Loss

Seton Catholic Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were dealt an 86-50 defeat at the hands of the Bolton Central Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 700th, while the Eagles are ranked 234th).

When it comes to explaining why Seton Catholic Central lost, don't look at Michael Mannix. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 31 points and nine boards. Mannix is becoming a predictor of Seton Catholic Central's success: when he posts at least 30 points the team is 6-1 (and 3-7 when he doesn't).

Bolton Central can attribute much of their success to Jace Hubert, who posted 21 points. That's the most points Hubert has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of William Hens, who earned 15 points.

Seton Catholic Central's loss dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Bolton Central, they pushed their record up to 17-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Seton Catholic Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-54 defeat against Boquet Valley on the 10th. As for Bolton Central, they have also already played their next contest, a 73-55 win against Crown Point on the 10th.
