Softball Preview: Huntingtown Hurricanes vs. Calvert Cavaliers        
        
		
            The Huntingtown Hurricanes will face off against the Calvert Cavaliers on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one:  the two teams posted some lofty  run totals in their previous games.
Huntingtown is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup  on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand McDonough  an   18-0 shutout. Considering the Hurricanes have won 13 matchups by more than eight  runs this season, Monday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Jordyn Greever made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  kept things locked down with   no  earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-4 with two  RBI.

 In other batting news,  Madisyn Williamson was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one  home run and five  RBI. That's the most  hits  she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was  Kayla Ripple, who  went 3-for-4 with three  runs, one  triple,  and two  RBI.
 Huntingtown  hit smart and  finished the game with only one  strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters  in three consecutive  contests.
Meanwhile, Calvert won against Westlake  on Thursday with 16  runs and they decided to stick to that  run total again  on Monday. The Cavaliers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  16-15  win over La Plata. Winning may never get old, but the Cavaliers sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
 The team  relied heavily on  Madison Weems, who  went 1-for-4 with four  RBI, two  runs,  and one  stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of  Hailey Hilton, who  got on base  in four of her five plate appearances with two  runs.
 Huntingtown has  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record  this season. The  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Calvert, their record now sits at 14-4.
