Basketball Recap: Cristo Rey Takes a Loss

Cristo Rey lost against Southern California Yeshiva back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Cristo Rey took a blow against the Southern California Yeshiva Hawks, falling 66-26. Cristo Rey's loss continues a trend for the squad, making it six in a row.

Cristo Rey's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charles Sawaya, who posted ten points and three steals. Sawaya is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Barajas, who had three points.

Cristo Rey's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Southern California Yeshiva, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-4.

Cristo Rey will head out on the road to challenge Julian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Southern California Yeshiva, they will be playing at home against Liberty Charter on Thursday. Southern California Yeshiva is facing Liberty Charter at the right time seeing as Liberty Charter is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
