Baseball Recap: Pioneer Gets the Win

Pioneer came out on top against Santa Teresa on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Mustangs walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Saints. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Saints recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Preston Bright, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Easton Deguera, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Pioneer's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Santa Teresa, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-9.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Pioneer will face off against rival Leigh at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Mustangs have won four straight at home dating back to last season, while the Longhorns won six straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Meanwhile, Santa Teresa is set to take on their familiar foe Leland at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
