Baseball Preview: Frost Polar Bears vs. Italy Gladiators
The Frost Polar Bears are taking a road trip to take on the Italy Gladiators at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Frost will be strutting in after a win while Italy will be coming in after a loss.
Frost will bounce into Friday's game after beating Itasca, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Frost came out on top against Itasca by a score of 10-5 on Monday. Frost's victory was all the more impressive since the Wampus Cats were averaging only four runs allowed on the season.
Jake Weil was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Weil was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on J.C. Woods, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Rhett Roughton, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
