Football Recap: Cardinal Spellman Comes Up Short

Cardinal Spellman fell victim to St. Francis Prep and their airtight defense on Sunday. They took a blow against the Terriers, falling 38-0. While losing is never fun, the Pilots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 500th, while the Terriers are ranked 98th).

St. Francis Prep had a senior duo take command as Jack Leary threw for 111 yards and three TDs on perfect 6-for-6 passing and Sean Ibert gained 109 total yards and a touchdown. Leary's superb passer rating of 177.1 also marked a new season-high.

This is the second loss in a row for Cardinal Spellman and nudges their season record down to 2-5. As for St. Francis Prep, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Coming up, Cardinal Spellman will head out to challenge Kennedy Catholic at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Francis Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
