The Grant Park Dragons will head out on the road to take on the Iroquois West Raiders at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Grant Park is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
Things were looking good for Grant Park after they put the first run on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clifton Central.

Cheyenne Hayes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.
Meanwhile, Iroquois West narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Georgetown-Ridge Farm 4-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.
Iroquois West also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Autumn Miller gave up just two earned runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Amelia Scharp was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Jordyn Meents was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple.
Iroquois West's win bumped their record up to 8-13. As for Grant Park, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.
Grant Park's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's matchup. The Dragons have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Iroquois West, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Grant Park continue to outrun the ball?
Grant Park took their victory against Iroquois West when the teams last played back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 15-7 score. Do the Dragons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
