Cabell Midland (Ona, W. Va.) had its advantage, which at one point stood at 14 points, drop to seven before the final whistle blew on a 21-14 victory over
Spring Valley (Huntington, W. Va.).
After taking the lead on a
Dontae Hendricks touchdown run in the first quarter, the Knights led 14-0 at the half.
Both teams scored seven points in the third quarter, so the margin remained at 14 entering the fourth.
The loss snapped Spring Valley's five-game winning streak.
Cabell Midland had given up an average of 16.8 points prior to the contest.
When the two teams played each other last season, CM came away with a 21-13 victory.
The loss comes after Spring Valley defeated Nitro 48-21 last week.
