Santa Cruz Coast recap Oct. 3, 2012

San Lorenzo Valley took down Harbor 52-3 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Soquel made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,919 from 4,209. The advance stemmed from a 42-0 victory over St. Francis last week.

The Sharks' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Matt Clifton threw for 139 yards and Garrett Saucedo had 61 yards receiving. On the ground Alan Hernandez chipped in 33 yards. RJ Zuniga helped St. Francis' passing attack out by catching two balls for 42 yards.

St. Francis' Nick Ciandro and Nathaniel Ceballos have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Santa Cruz Coast in both passing and receiving yards. Ciandro has thrown for 746 yards this season, while Ceballos, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 17 catches for 431 yards. Santa Cruz's Alex Morris leads the league in rushing yards with 399.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Soquel takes on second place San Lorenzo Valley. The Knights beat Adam Hazel's team last week, while the Cougars topped the Pirates.

San Lorenzo Valley led the league in scoring this week after putting up 52 points on Harbor.
