Baseball Game Preview: Rocklin Thunder vs. Whitney Wildcats

For the second straight game, Rocklin will face off against Whitney. The Thunder will venture away from home to square off against the Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

On Wednesday, it was close, but Rocklin sidestepped Whitney for a 7-6 victory. The Thunder haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Andrew Hancock tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rocklin got a massive performance out of Roman Castellanos, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Castellanos is becoming a predictor of the Thunder's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1-1 (and 1-9 when he doesn't). Ryan Lujan was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Rocklin lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are undefeated (2-0) when they post two or more home runs.

Rocklin's victory bumped their record up to 7-10-1. As for Whitney, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.
