Baseball Game Preview: East River Falcons vs. Lyman Greyhounds

For the first time this season, East River will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will take on the Lyman Greyhounds at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Lyman will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: East River extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Falcons skirted past Olympia 4-2.

Chance Griffin looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ty Kennedy, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jayden Vazquez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Lyman hadn't done well against Hagerty recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Greyhounds never let the Huskies get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Greyhounds as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Lyman also got a great performance from Dawson Reeves as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Reeves also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Greyhounds are 3-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-16 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Lyman saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keegan Cusick, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Lyman's win bumped their record up to 7-17. As for East River, their victory bumped their record up to 15-10.

East River beat Lyman 5-2 in their previous matchup back in February. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Greyhounds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
