Basketball Recap: Cardinal Gibbons Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Cardinal Gibbons and Sports Leadership & Management squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Cardinal Gibbons had to settle for second. They lost 75-52 to Sports Leadership & Management. While losing is never fun, the Chiefs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while Sports Leadership & Management are ranked 25th).

Sports Leadership & Management got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Adaya Montalvo out in front who went 5-for-8 on her way to 18 points. Samantha Bautista was another key player, putting up 14 points along with five assists and three steals.

Cardinal Gibbons' defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Sports Leadership & Management, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-12.

Cardinal Gibbons does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sports Leadership & Management, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-45 victory against Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart on the 21st.
