Preview: Idabel Warriors vs. Kansas Comets
Idabel has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Kansas Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Idabel had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They enjoyed a cozy 28-14 win over Henryetta on Friday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Idabel to victory, but perhaps none more so than Matrail Lopez, who rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 62 receiving yards. Lopez was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 57 yards. Another player making a difference was Waylon Phillips, who rushed for 15 yards and two touchdowns.
Idabel's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Antwain Bagsby was especially locked on to Henryetta's QB and sacked him twice.
Meanwhile, Kansas didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Pawhuska on Friday, but they still walked away with a 28-24 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Kansas.
Idabel has yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 10-0 record. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.9 points. As for Kansas, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
