Softball Game Preview: North Myrtle Beach Chiefs vs. Socastee Braves

For the second straight game, North Myrtle Beach will face off against Socastee. North Myrtle Beach will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Socastee at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (North Myrtle Beach has three straight wins, Socastee has 11 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Monday, North Myrtle Beach beat Socastee 9-6. That's two games straight that the Chiefs have won by exactly three runs.

Nealy Lockner was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Kiera Olson and Sadie Olson did most of the damage at the plate: Kiera scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Sadie scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Kiera has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Izzy Bruno, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Socastee's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for North Myrtle Beach, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
