Softball Recap: Largo Takes a Loss

Largo's tournament run continued when they took on Palatka on Saturday. The Packers fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 4-3.

Laila Weber spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on three hits.

At the plate, Lily Meloy was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Bella Morrison, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Largo's loss dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Palatka, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Largo will head out on the road to face off against Calvary Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Packers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Palatka, they will welcome Ponte Vedra at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sharks have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
