Basketball Recap: Palm Beach Gardens Comes Up Short

Palm Beach Gardens had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 2-3 to make it six. They took a 64-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs. The Gators were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Palm Beach Gardens still got an impressive performance from Hershell Reynolds, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards. Reynolds has also also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 46% every time he's hit the court this season. Another player making a difference was Chaunc'E Baker, who shot 63% from the field en route to 14 points.

As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-2. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points over those games.

Dr. Joaquin Garcia had a senior duo take command as Bryce Wright went 5-for-12 on his way to 16 points and five steals and Diego Sanchez dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 boards set a new season-high mark for Sanchez. The team also got some help courtesy of Demetrius Jackson, who posted 12 points and six rebounds.

Looking ahead, Palm Beach Gardens will square off against Jupiter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, they will head out to take on Palm Beach Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
