Basketball Recap: LEAD Academy Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

If McGavock wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played LEAD Academy, they should've done a better job of containing Anthony Petway. The LEAD Academy Panthers claimed a resounding 80-39 win over the McGavock Raiders thanks in part to Petway, who went 11 for 17 on his way to 28 points in addition to eight assists and eight steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in steals.

The team also got some help courtesy of Dreshawn Harvell, who posted eight points in addition to six boards and four steals. He has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played.

The victory made it two in a row for LEAD Academy and bumps their season record up to 6-3. As for McGavock, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. LEAD Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Smyrna at 7:30 p.m. on December 17th. As for McGavock, they will face off against Gallatin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
