Softball Game Preview: River Valley Vikings vs. East Tigers

The River Valley Vikings will take on the East Tigers in a tournament on Thursday. River Valley is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

While River Valley's win against Galion wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Vikings narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Tigers 6-4.

Sidney Street was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Kamryn Fowler was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Chloe Addis was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when East took on Columbus International on Wednesday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 28-16 margin over the Lions. Considering the Tigers have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The win made it two in a row for East and bumps their season record up to 6-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.0 runs over those games. As for River Valley, their win bumped their record up to 17-4.
