Football Recap: Salem Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Salem played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 52-12 defeat at the hands of the Stringer Red Devils. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Red Devils recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Christopher Riley, who picked up 115 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Jaheim Campbell was his usual excellent self, rushing for 230 yards and four scores while picking up 11.0 yards per carry for Stringer. Campbell's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 105 rushing yards dating back to last season. Connor Thornton was another key player, rushing for 12 yards and one TD.

Having lost for the first time this season, Salem fell to 3-1. As for Stringer, the victory made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salem will take on Amite County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans' defense has only allowed 11.5 points per game this season, so the Wildcats' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Stringer, they will square off against Mount Olive at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Red Devils will be up against the Pirates' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.25 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
