Basketball Recap: Mesa Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Mesa waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They strolled past the Red Mountain Mountain Lions with points to spare, taking the game 37-22. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 58-42 two weeks ago.

Mesa found their leader in freshman Taylor Morris, who posted 13 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. Another player making a difference was Marlee Straub, who earned 11 points.

Mesa smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, Red Mountain still got an impressive performance from Payton Westra, who had seven points and 14 boards. Westra is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Pacheco, who put up no points in addition to four steals and three blocks.

Mesa pushed their record up to 15-10 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Red Mountain, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-9.

Mesa didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-38 win against Mountain View on the 13th. As for Red Mountain, they have also already played their next contest, a 57-18 victory against Westwood on the 12th.
