Recap: Ledford Panthers vs. Forbush Falcons

The Ledford Panthers struggled with offensive rebounds on Wednesday (the Forbush Falcons had 16 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Ledford was beaten by Forbush 72-18. While losing is never fun, Ledford can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while Forbush is ranked 115th).

Despite the loss, Ledford saw an underclassman step up: Izzy Smith scored ten points along with four steals.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Ledford struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Forbush's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Katie Furno, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Natalie Scott, who scored ten points.

Ledford's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.0 points per game. As for Forbush, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ledford will finish 2023 at home by hosting Wheatmore at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Forbush will be home for the holidays to greet Lexington at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
