Softball Recap: Monday's Win Is Community's 16th in Last 17 Outings

Community never let their opponents score on Monday. They put the hurt on the Cascade Champions with a sharp 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Vikings/Viqueens, who have now won 12 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Mattie Maxey was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Haylee Webb, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cascade only posted an OBP of .000.

Community is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-2-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Cascade, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-5.

Coming up, Community will be playing in front of their home fans against Forrest at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cascade, they will venture away from home to take on Eagleville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Champions surely won't give up without a fight.
