Softball Recap: Lincoln Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Lincoln dropped their record down to 14-11 on Monday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Southwest SD Raiders, falling 27-14. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Hornets have suffered since April 21st.

Nyema Curtis was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 5-for-5 with five runs and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada Blackman, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI and three runs.

As for Southwest SD, the victory got them back to even at 10-10. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.

On Southwest SD's side, Aketzalli Rodriguez was incredible, getting on base in all seven of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and five RBI. The dominant performance also gave Rodriguez a new career-high in doubles (three). Sophia Borquez was another key player, going 5-for-7 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Lincoln wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 26-20 win against Kearny on the 14th. As for Southwest SD, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 27-8 victory against Castle Park on the 15th.
