Baseball Game Preview: Skyridge Falcons vs. Lehi Pioneers

For the second straight game, Skyridge will face off against Lehi. The Falcons will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Pioneers at 3:30 p.m. Skyridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Skyridge is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Lehi, who was ranked 13th at the time (Skyridge was ranked 15th). The Falcons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Pioneers on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted since March 26th.

Miles Robinson was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. He also scored two runs, which is notable because Skyridge is 7-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Rip Roberts, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Skyridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 9-3 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win made it two in a row for Skyridge and bumps their season record up to 14-9. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Lehi, they dropped their record down to 12-12 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Skyridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .359. However, it's not like Lehi struggles in that department as they've averaged .323. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
