Recap: Melbourne Bulldogs vs. Satellite Scorpions
After flying high against the Merritt Island Mustangs on Monday, the Melbourne Bulldogs came back down to earth. Melbourne fell 38-31 to Satellite on Thursday. Melbourne was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Satellite apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Melbourne's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Addyson Turba, who scored 7 points along with 15 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Gabrielly Bortolucci, who scored 4 points along with 9 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Satellite was led to victory by Alyna Lora and Sydney Logsdon. Lora dropped a double-double on 10 points and 14 rebounds, while Logsdon dropped a double-double on 10 points and 10 rebounds. Lora hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Keira Merrick, who scored 6 points along with 9 rebounds.
Melbourne now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Satellite, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Melbourne won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th. Heritage presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Melbourne in Florida (Heritage is ranked 224th, while Melbourne is ranked 477th). As for Satellite, they will head out on the road to face off against Bayside at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Bayside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday.
