Basketball Recap: Frost Polar Bears vs. Rio Vista Eagles
The Frost Polar Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. Their rough 60-38 loss to Rio Vista might stick with them for a while. Frost was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-18.
Rio Vista's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Dawson Macklin, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. Macklin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Peyton Covey was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.
Frost has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-19 record this season. As for Rio Vista, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 19-12.
Frost will head out on the road to challenge the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Hamilton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday. As for Rio Vista, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Wampus Cats at 7:30 p.m. Itasca will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
