Basketball Game Preview: Slater Wildcats vs. Sweet Springs Greyhounds

Slater and Sweet Springs are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Slater Wildcats will face off against the Sweet Springs Greyhounds at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with eight consecutive losses for Slater and four for Sweet Springs.

Slater saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They were dealt a 43-12 defeat at the hands of Santa Fe. The match marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 54-19, which was the final score in Sweet Springs' tilt against Carrollton on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Greyhounds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 484th, while the Trojans are ranked 143rd).

Slater's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Sweet Springs, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-11.

Slater skirted past Sweet Springs 39-37 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Slater since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
