Football Game Preview: Wesclin Warriors vs. Carlyle Indians/Lady Indians + How To Watch

The Wesclin Warriors will head out to face off against the Carlyle Indians/Lady Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wesclin will be strutting in after a victory while Carlyle will be coming in after a defeat.

Wesclin is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Red Bud on Friday. The Warriors walked away with a 34-22 win over the Musketeers. The Warriors pushed the score to 34-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Musketeers cut but never quite recovered from.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wesclin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cael Madden, who rushed for 132 yards and two scores on only 13 carries. Another rusher making a difference was William Waggoner, who rushed for 141 yards and one TD.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wesclin was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 389 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 161 rushing yards in eight consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Wesclin didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jarett Wuebbels and Waggoner. Waggoner's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 100 rushing yards.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 41-8, which was the final score in Carlyle's tilt against Sparta/Steeleville on Friday.

Carlyle's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Wesclin, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-4.

Wesclin came up short against Carlyle when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 28-23. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
