Basketball Recap: Gunnison Valley Comes Up Short

Gunnison Valley was the 46-45 winner over North Sevier when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Gunnison Valley Bulldogs were just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 48-47 to the North Sevier Wolves. The Bulldogs were up 32-15 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Gunnison Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rylee Bartholomew, who went 7 of 16 en route to 16 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. That was a full 34% of Gunnison Valley's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Autumn Anderson, who earned seven points and 12 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Gunnison Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Gunnison Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-8 record this season. As for North Sevier, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-11.

Gunnison Valley will challenge Duchesne at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Sevier, they will square off against North Summit at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Summit will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something North Sevier surely won't give up without a fight.
