Football Recap: RJ Buckley's Menacing Defense Leads South Newton over Benton Central

South Newton won the last time they faced Benton Central, and Myles Wittenborn did his part to make sure it happened again. The Rebels came out on top against the Bison by a score of 14-6 on Friday with plenty of help from Wittenborn, who rushed for 87 yards and one score on only 11 carries. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 59 yards.

South Newton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. RJ Buckley led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

South Newton's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Benton Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, South Newton will face off against North Newton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Rebels' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Benton Central, they will square off against Logansport at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bison will need to watch out since the Berries have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
