Basketball Recap: Colby Moon's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Chapman over Union County

Chapman was the 63-52 winner over Union County when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Chapman Panthers took a 52-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Union County Yellowjackets. The Panthers just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Colby Moon, who posted 12 points. Colt Mcallister was another key player, putting up nine points.

It was another big night for Eric Gray, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 21 points and four steals for Union County. That makes it four consecutive games in which Gray has scored at least a third of Union County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Fleming, who went 5 of 8 en route to 14 points and six rebounds.

Chapman's defeat dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Union County, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.

Chapman will take on Woodruff at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chapman is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.6 points per game this season. As for Union County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Greer Middle College at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Union County also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 56.6 points per game.
