Volleyball Recap: Mourning Comes Up Short

If Mourning was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Booker T. Washington on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sharks came up short against the Goleman Gators on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Sharks of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.

The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-20, 25-11.

Lucas Castro paced Mourning's offense, picking up six kills. Castro got some help from Fabio Abuchaibeavila and his 14 assists. Castro was also solid from the service line: he led the team with two aces.

Mourning's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Goleman, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-10.

Mourning has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Booker T. Washington on the 23rd. As for Goleman, they will take on Hialeah Gardens at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
