Softball Recap: East Central Eagles vs. Ogilvie Lions
East Central had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-5 to make it nine. They lost 23-11 to the Ogilvie Lions. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
Sophia Ecklund was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Madison Kuhlman also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
As for Ogilvie, their victory ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-4. The game marked their most dominant win of the season so far.
On Ogilvie's side, they got a massive performance out of Annika Jacobson, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Rebecca Stromberg, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Central will challenge Barnum at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Ogilvie, they will be playing in front of their home fans against McGregor at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
