Recap: Orangeville Broncos vs. Marian Central Catholic Hurricanes
The Orangeville Broncos have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 21 points or more this season. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2023 than the 63-35 stomp they got on the road against Marian Central Catholic.
Orangeville's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nadalee Doyle, who scored 22 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Whitney Sullivan, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Marian Central Catholic still got an impressive performance from Madison Kenyon, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. The contest was Kenyon's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Abbey Miner was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Orangeville's win bumped their record up to 16-1. As for Marian Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 15-3.
Orangeville's road trip will continue as they head out to face Harlem at 4:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Harlem will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 266th, while Orangeville is ranked 51st). Marian Central Catholic will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Boylan Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Boylan Catholic is on a six-game streak of home wins, Marian Central Catholic a 11-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
