Baseball Recap: Indianapolis Shortridge Takes a Loss

Seton Catholic hit Indianapolis Shortridge with a five-run third inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blue Devils lost 13-3 to the Cardinals. The Blue Devils have struggled against the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Jackson McKinney was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Pena-Mendez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Indianapolis Shortridge's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Seton Catholic, their record now sits at 6-12.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Indianapolis Shortridge will square off against Herron at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Achaeans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.44 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Seton Catholic, they will take on Randolph Southern at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Cardinals are facing the Rebels at the right time seeing as the Rebels are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
