Softball Preview: Lakewood Lancers vs. Millikan Rams
Lakewood is 2-8 against Millikan since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Lancers will square off against the Rams at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Lakewood and Long Beach Poly meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Lancers came out on top against the Jackrabbits by a score of 9-5.
Four must be Millikan's lucky number: they beat Poway with that score not once but twice on Friday. The Rams skirted past the Titans 4-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rams.
Mia Meza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Millikan's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Lauryn Kim, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Those three hits gave Kim a new career-high.
