Pleasant Grove (Elk Grove, Calif.) junior tailback Mark Jenkins exploded for all eight of his team’s touchdowns Friday night during a 55-35 football victory over Roseville (Calif.). The 5-foot-9, 170-pounder carried 34 times for 298 yards as the Eagles soared to a 5-0 record.

The national record for rushing touchdowns in a single game is 12.

The herculean effort by Jenkins, which helped overcome a 21-14 halftime deficit, overshadowed a huge night by Roseville quarterback Nick Blaser and receiver Beau Smith. Blaser completed 20 of 37 passes for 422 yards and four touchdowns, while Smith snared seven for 302 yards and three touchdowns.

Parker Daughhetee had 10 catches for 159 yards and one touchdown. Casey Lambert rushed for 115 yards and one touchdown, while also firing a 73-yard scoring pass to Smith.

The future looks bright for the Eagles, who have 26 underclassmen on their 42-player roster.
